The 61st running of the Irish Derby was held on Wednesday 23rd June 1926 over 1 mile 4 furlongs of The Curragh. Subscriptions were 65 sovereigns with a pot of 5250 sovereigns, 700 sovereigns to the second and 200 sovereigns to the third. The winner was owned by the Maharajah of Rajpipla, bred in Ireland by W F Power, trained by Charles Bartholomew and ridden by Steve Donoghue. The winner won by 1/2 length in 2 minutes 41.2 seconds, with a further half a length between second and third. |
